The Room — Deluxe Hinoki
We stayed in a first-floor Deluxe Hinoki room — a studio-style space with a double bed, in-room kitchen, and a private terrace with an outdoor cypress bath looking out to sea. At around 53 square meters, it was more spacious than expected.
The bed faces the terrace window, so lying down means looking straight at the ocean. Our toddler spent a good while rolling around on the bed just because of the view — or maybe just because the mattress was that comfortable. Blackout blinds meant we could sleep in without being woken by the morning sun. The kitchen had a 4-person table and everything we needed: pots, dishes, wine glasses, a corkscrew, a mini rice cooker, and a microwave. Bath towels, hinoki bath robes, and extra bedding for the additional guest were all provided in the right quantities. It genuinely felt like there was nothing to pack other than clothes.

The Cypress Bath (Hinoki)
The main reason we chose this resort over other Geoje accommodation was the outdoor cypress bath. Soaking in hot water on a private terrace with the Hallyeo Maritime National Park sea stretched out in front — that combination is hard to find anywhere. Our child loved the water, so having a tub we could all use together made it easy for everyone. We went in as soon as we checked in. The experience felt genuinely different from an indoor bath — the open air, the sea view, the steam. The bath towels and robes were already set out in the right numbers when we arrived.
After getting out, the hot shower in the bathroom helped wind everything down. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and towels were all provided.

The Garden and Trails
Before getting into the hinoki bath, we took a walk around the garden. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the stay. The 5,000-square-meter space is planted with camellia trees, pampas grass, and various seasonal flowers, with the Sinseomdae trail running alongside. The garden connects directly to the trail and the Windy Hill landmark is a 5-minute walk from the entrance.

The large picnic basket installation near the garden entrance is the property’s signature photo spot. The on-site cafe delivers breakfast orders in these same baskets to your room — which is how our morning order arrived. There’s also an outdoor seating area at the cafe for brunch.
We stopped multiple times on the evening walk when the sun was going down. The light on the water, the silhouettes of the islands — it was the kind of thing that makes you stand still for a moment without meaning to.

BBQ and Breakfast
Traveling with a baby means meals are the part of any trip that requires the most energy. Having both dinner and breakfast handled in the room made a real difference. The BBQ package came with enough food for two — pork belly, shrimp, sausage, and sides — and the terrace setup meant there was no smell coming into the room. My partner handled most of the grilling while I kept our child occupied, and it was the most relaxed dinner we’d had on a trip in a while.

The breakfast basket arrived at the room the next morning with a tuna croissant sandwich, cereal, fruit, juice, and milk — all made at the cafe on-site. Eating it on the terrace with the sea in front was a good way to start the day.
The Rooftop
We went up to the rooftop after dark. The lighting was soft and the view of the surrounding coastline was wider than from the terrace. We didn’t stay long, but it’s the kind of spot where you’d easily spend an hour with a drink if you had the time. The atmosphere earned it.
Why It Works as a Geoje Island Resort Near Busan
What stands out about Windyhill Resort is that it brings together things that are usually separate: the privacy and cooking facilities of a pension, the room quality and service of a hotel, and a garden and trail network that most standalone accommodation doesn’t have. The cypress bath on every terrace with a sea view is the feature that sets it apart from other options in the area.
For families traveling from Busan — by bus or rental car — it works as a one- or two-night base. The Windy Hill landmark, Haegeumgang, Oedo Island ferry terminal, and Geoje cable car are all reachable from here. If you’re looking for a Geoje island resort near Busan where the stay itself is the main event, Windyhill Resort is worth considering.

How do I get to Windyhill Resort from Busan without a rental car?
From Gimhae International Airport, take the express bus to Geoje (Gohyeon) from Gates 3–4 — about 70 minutes, ₩8,800 (~$6). From Busan Sasang Bus Terminal, buses to Geoje run every 30 minutes, also about 70 minutes, ₩9,000 (~$6). Tickets are available at the counter without advance booking. From Geoje Gohyeon Terminal, take local bus 55 or 55-1 and get off at Dojangpo stop, then walk 3 minutes. Total time from the terminal to the resort is about 55 minutes.
What is a hinoki (cypress) bath and which rooms have one?
A hinoki bath is a wooden soaking tub made from Japanese cypress, traditionally associated with relaxation and a mild woody scent. At Windyhill Resort, the cypress bath is positioned on the private terrace of each room — outdoors, with direct views of the sea. All hinoki room types have one. Rooms without a cypress bath start from around ₩90,000–120,000 (~$60–80)/night; rooms with one start from ₩140,000 (~$93) based on weekday June rates.
What room types are available and how many guests can each hold?
There are six room types, split between Standard Hinoki rooms (ocean-facing) and Garden Hinoki rooms (garden-facing with sea views). Standard rooms sleep 2–4 depending on type, and Suite/Grand Suite types sleep up to 4–6. All rooms have a private cypress bath on the terrace. Prices range from approximately ₩175,000 (~$117) to ₩580,000 (~$387) per night depending on room type and season.
Is the BBQ package worth adding and what does it include?
The BBQ package (₩80,000 / ~$53 for 2 guests, grill fee included) comes with pork belly 500g, 4 shrimp, sausage, vegetables, condiments, two servings of rice, and two cup noodles. The grill is on the private terrace, so there’s no smoke coming into the room. Additional pork belly 500g is available for ₩30,000 (~$20). If you already have your own food, the grill-only fee is ₩20,000 (~$13).
What does the breakfast room service include?
Breakfast room service (₩28,000 / ~$19 for 2 guests, ₩14,000 / ~$9 per additional person) is delivered to your room in a picnic basket. It includes a tuna croissant sandwich made at the resort cafe, cereal, fruit, juice, and milk. It arrives ready to eat and works well on the terrace with the sea view.
Is the resort suitable for families with young children?
Yes. The resort offers baby cot rental (Nuna brand, ₩10,000 / ~$7/night, newborn to 36 months). The hinoki bath on the terrace is a private tub that works well for children who like water. Extra bedding for additional guests is provided. The garden and Sinseomdae trail are easy walks. The resort can accommodate up to 3 guests in Deluxe Hinoki rooms and up to 6 in Grand Suite types.
What is near Windyhill Resort?
The Windy Hill landmark (one of Geoje’s most photographed spots) is a 5-minute walk from the resort entrance. Haegeumgang Rock Formation, Oedo Island ferry terminal, and Geoje cable car are all reachable by car in under 30 minutes. The resort itself has a cafe with outdoor seating and a 5,000-square-meter garden with camellia trees, pampas grass, and walking trails along the Sinseomdae coastline.
